FAQ - GENERAL
What do I get when I buy a CityDesk Wizard?
You get a CityDesk 2 database file, a so-called CTY file, which includes preformatted templates, variables and a basic site structure. Once you open that file in CityDesk you can quickly and easily generate professional websites without having to resort to HTML or CityDesk script coding.
Who can I contact with questions about Wizards?
You can contact us via our contact form and we will get back to you in the shortest time frame possible.
How much do Wizards cost?
This depends on the Wizard functionality and design complexity. Each Wizard may only be used for one single project.
What are the system requirements for Wizards?
You need any edition of CityDesk 2 to use a Wizard.
How can I buy or license a Wizard?
Click here to view a list of available Wizards and select according to your preferences. Purchasing is online-only with a wide variety of secure payment options. Delivery is via instant download so you can start building your website right away.
Will you notify existing customers of new Wizards?
Yes, absolutely. We also maintain a mailing list for our telepark Kurzletter which we use to inform interested parties about our products and services in general, including Wizards.
What are your future plans for the wizards?
We are currently developing more Wizards aiming at diversity in terms of design choices and in-built functionality. We also plan a Wizard Developer section within our website for Wizard users only.
Why do you call them Wizards?
Because, in conjunction with CityDesk, they are so much more than simple webdesign templates. They generate a complete, interlinked website, not a single webpage, with one click and let you make the design modifications in no time.
Which browsers do you test your Wizards with?
We test our Wizards with the current versions of Internet Explorer and Mozilla under Windows XP and Windows 2000. Due to the almost endless diversity of browser types and versions we make no claims for other browsers concerning our Wizards.
FAQ - EDITING
How do I edit pictures to the correct size?
We typically use Adobe Photoshop but CityDesk 2 contains a very nice picture editor which you can use to edit JPG/JPEG images. But not GIFs! Simply right-click on the JPG image you want to edit and select "open with built-in picture editor". Note that when you try this with a GIF image it will say "open with the built-in picture viewer" (no editing possible).
How do I transfer material from MS Word/Excel to CityDesk?
The simple answer is: copy and paste from Word or Excel into a CityDesk article. We do not really advise to do this except for tables formatted in Excel (CityDesk currently does not have any intrinsic support for table formatting). When you copy and paste from an MS Office application into CityDesk all formatting will also be transferred resulting in rather messy HTML code within the CityDesk article.
Can I use CityDesk foreach loop scripts in Wizard articles?
Yes.
FAQ - DOCUMENTATION
Where is the documentation for my Wizard?
The documentation for each Wizard is available for free to download on each Wizard page for two reasons: (1) You can read it before buying the Wizard and decide whether you are comfortable with it and (2) it reduces the size of the instant download package.
Your 12 page sample documentation seems to be locked?
No, its not. You can download, save and print it as you like. Use the small "Floppy-Disk" icon to save it or the "Printer" icon to print it. Eventually, upgrade to a newer version of the free Acrobat Reader application.
FAQ - TEMPLATES and VARIABLES
What is ABC or Article-Based-Configuration?
ABC or Article-Based-Configuration allows you to edit all design-relevant parameters by making entries into the appropriate article fields. No need to go into or learn HTML or CityDesk script code.
Can I extend the templates provided in your Wizards?
Yes, provided you don't use the CityDesk 2 Contributor edition which blocks access to Designer Mode in CityDesk.
Does one Wizard contain a single template?
Each Wizard contains a main template and some less important templates which are only used to enable ABC, Article-Based-Configuration (see above). In some rare cases we might develop Wizards with more than one main template for additional functionality.
Can I extend the variables provided in your Wizards?
Yes, provided you don't use the CityDesk 2 Contributor edition which blocks access to Designer Mode in CityDesk.
I opened a template, saved it again and now [...] is gone?
Never open CityDesk templates in NORMAL VIEW, always edit in HTML VIEW (if need be). If you ever open a template in NORMAL VIEW, switch to HTML view, do not save-and-close but close the window clicking on the "X" at the top-right of the window and deny saving the changes.
FAQ - PURCHASING and LICENSING
Are Wizards delivered instantly after purchase?
Yes, you can download them right after online purchasing.
How many websites can I generate with one Wizard?
With each Wizard you may generate exactly one website. If you want to create another website with the same Wizard you have to buy another license first.
I did not get the email with the download link, what now?
First, check with our secure merchant provider, share-it, which took your order online and ask them to send you the download link again. If you should still have difficulties contact us via our contact form, we'll resolve the issue for you.
